Nitrous oxide emissions from five fertilizer treatments during one year – High-frequency measurements on a Swedish Cambisol

چکیده

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a strong greenhouse gas, and the emissions from managed soils are increasing. Emissions of N2O highly variable in time space, there potential triggers for emission peaks both crop season no-crop season. The aim this study was to compare how fertilizer treatments, differing rate source nitrogen (N), influence direct soil, as well season, with use automated, high-frequency chamber measurements. were measured cereal production on Swedish clay-rich soil fertilized biogas digestate, pig slurry two levels mineral N, control plots receiving no N. results showed that per unit area low all compared other studies. treatment fertilizers at recommended rates similar (0.65 0.48 kg N2O-N ha?1 yr?1, respectively). One-year cumulative N input 50 % higher than about three times control. digestate treatments same magnitude high treatment. While associated elevated concentrations nitrate drainage water, organic probably result large ammonium degradable matter year studied preceding year. Most (approximately 75 %) occurred between harvest autumn sowing spring, mainly periods freeze-thaw cycles. relative differences roughly during This concludes it possible combine yields very - even clay semi-humid climate when using rates.

Does nitrogen fertilizer application rate to corn affect nitrous oxide emissions from the rotated soybean crop?

Little information exists on the potential for N fertilizer application to corn ( L.) to affect NO emissions during subsequent unfertilized crops in a rotation. To determine if N fertilizer application to corn affects NO emissions during subsequent crops in rotation, we measured NO emissions for 3 yr (2011-2013) in an Iowa, corn-soybean [ (L.) Merr.] rotation with three N fertilizer rates appli...

Nitrous oxide emissions from wastewater treatment processes.

Nitrous oxide (N(2)O) emissions from wastewater treatment plants vary substantially between plants, ranging from negligible to substantial (a few per cent of the total nitrogen load), probably because of different designs and operational conditions. In general, plants that achieve high levels of nitrogen removal emit less N(2)O, indicating that no compromise is required between high water quali...
